Getting rid of old, dead skin cells is very important to have a younger looking skin. Also makeup looks great on smooth skin. It looks flaky if your skin is dry and has lots of dead skin cells. So the best way to get a radiant looking skin is to exfoliate. There are different exfoliating face scrubs that can be easily prepared at home within minutes.

Why Exfoliation is better ?

As we grow hormones change and the new skin cells are created in the inner layer of the skin called Dermis.. This formation of dermis pushes the dead and old skin cells to the epidermis – which is the outer layer of the skin. Sometimes these dead cells automatically flake off but in some cases it takes time and makes you look dull with a rough skin left behind. This also clogs your skin pores which is never good as it can cause acne and other kind of blemishes. So i guess now you agree that exfoliation is the best process to remove these dead cells from your body. Dry body brushing is often very effective. It not only removes dead skin cells, but also increases your blood flow resulting in less cellulite.

Why It’s Best To Prepare Them At Home ?

  • Store bought exfoliates mostly have microbeads which are harsh on your skin and also toxic to the environment. These small plastic beads effects our marine line as they get washed into our water supply.
  • They are free from Paraben and other chemicals.
  • When you prepare them at home its practically safe, chemical free and also inexpensive which is great. I love it when they are inexpensive.

So let’s look at all the natural exfoliate recipes for a smooth and shiny healthy looking skin:

1. Use Oatmeal Facial Srcub:

Oatmeal is best if you have sensitive skin since they have anti-inflammatory properties. They soothe any irritation and treat inflammations which cleans and also clears the skin. Buy some good quality organic Oatmeal and grind it in a food processor. Add some water to it and gently massage it in circular movements all over your face except eye area with your fingertips. It quickly absorbs any oil residue and helps cleanse your skin as you exfoliate.

You can also mix finely grounded Oatmeal with honey or yogurt or buttermilk and scrub your face gently. Leave it for 20 to 30 minutes and then rinse it off with water.

2. Use Sugar and Salt Scrub :

This combination is a great recipe for face. Mix 1 part of oil to 2 parts sugar or salt. Pick any body oil of your choice and add essential oil’s for scent or aromatherapy. You can skip the essential oil if you have sensitive skin or can’t stand the fragrances. You can use this recipe on your body  and have a nice warm bath. You will definitely love the results.

3. Use Sea Salt For Rougher Parts Of your Body :

Sea Salts are large granules and are coarse. They don’t readily dissolve in water, So that makes them a perfect choice for rougher parts of your body such as elbows and feet. Sea Salts are traces of minerals that stimulate the growth of cells and helps rejuvenate your skin. It can be easily made at home by mixing the powdered salts with Olive oil or lavender essential oil, jojoba oil or grape seed oil. Simply mix a small amount of oil and sea salt and rub it into your skin.

4. Use Brewer’s Yeast and Greek Yogurt Facial Scrub:

This recipe can’t be refrigerated and should be used as you make it. Mix 1.5 tbsp of powdered brewer’s yeast  to 2 tbsp of brown sugar and 2 tbsp of plain Greek yogurt and 1 tbsp of warm honey. Peaches have alpha hydroxy acid. Vitamin A and C. They are mild exfoliates that break down the dead skin cells and help create new cells. They can be often used to get a smooth and clearer complexion. Peaches are great antioxidants too. If refrigerated it will last for  week.
